On Dec 1st 2008 crews from several Putnam County Fire Depts, along with Shawnee Fire Dept, ATFD and Cairo Fire Dept, as well as Allen County EMA responded to a tanker carrying fuel that had went off the road striking a series of poles, which ruptured the tank and created a large fire.  The truck was reported to be full at the time of the accident.  The incident took several hours to be safely controlled.
